Proposed by Sir Joshua Reynolds to encourage the conversation of Samuel Johnson, The Club began as a weekly meeting at the Turk’s Head Tavern in Soho. Johnson gathered with Reynolds, Edmund Burke, David Garrick, and Oliver Goldsmith.
