In 1760, Venetian-born impresario Teresa Cornelys transformed Carlisle House into an unprecedented world of music, spectacle and social life. Under her direction, Jacob Leroux and Thomas Chippendale helped create rooms for concerts, operas, balls, suppers and masquerades, drawing royalty and fashionable London to Soho Square.
