Opened in 1912 by Frida Strindberg, the Cave of the Golden Calf brought the experimental cabaret culture of continental Europe to London. Strindberg commissioned young artists including Wyndham Lewis, Jacob Epstein and Eric Gill to create its interiors, which became a meeting place for figures including Ezra Pound and Katherine Mansfield.
